Hello it’s your girl, Keko~ today I’m coming at you with some Valentine’s Day gift ideas that don’t take a lot of money just a bit of effort. What am I qualifications? My love language is gift giving and I enjoy it so much that I am attempting to make it into my side business.
1. Flowers
Flowers are one of those gifts that can either be really expensive or really cheap depending on how you go about it. I’m gonna tell you how to get your partner a bouquet without your wallet crying.
- Go to your local florist
Your local florist may seem extra pricey but that’s usually for the big custom bouquets. Talk to them about an in season small bouquet and those bad boys will run you about $40-$50. You can also buy individual flowers and make the bouquet yourself. Adds a personal touch and is usually cheaper. Make sure you pick blooms that are in season as that’s the cheapest way to do it and also guarantees the plants last longer and are fresher.
- The grocery store never hurt no body
The cheapest bouquets you can buy will be at your local grocery store. If you stay away from roses these can run you as low and $10 depending on the store and size. I suggest getting two and making a bouquet yourself. Makes it nicer and adds that effort and care we want to see in a gift. All you need to make your own arrangement aside from the flowers is a vessel (which the thrift store is your friend) or some paper to wrap the stems in. Just have fun with what flowers are next to what. We want effort not perfection
2. Treat Boxes
These are a good option for people who don’t want items they have to keep, you don’t know what to get, or as an add on.
Option one is making a homemade edible arrangement. All you need is some fruit, chocolate melts/chocolate chips, and some sticks. It should run you about $15-$25 at the grocery store. All you have to do is wash and dry the fruit, stick it on the sticks, then melt the chocolate and dip the fruit. Let it dry then bundle it together with ribbon or in a vase.
Option two are chocolates. Get a box (dollar tree has some cute boxes). Melt some chocolate chips and mix it with condensed milk. Roll and set and you have truffles to fill the box with.
Option 3 is a candy box. See that DT box from earlier? Buy candy and fill it. Arrange it nicely (remember effort) add a heartfelt note and boom another inexpensive gift.
3. Gift Bundles
Keep it cute and small. I’m talking socks and a lip oil in a cup. Chocolate box and stuff animal. Believe in the power of a cute bag from TJMax and a dollar tree box of chocolate. Presentation is the saving grace here. Get yourself some ribbon. Second hand stores will get a spool for less than a buck. A bag, box, wrapping paper, or plastic wrap and believe in the power of a YouTube tutorial.
4. Hand made paper crafts/letters
This one can be free. I’m sure you have paper somewhere around the house. Look up cute folding techniques for letter paper. Write a note to your love one then fold all nice and pretty. More people will be happy with this than you think
You can also make love coupons. Free hugs and kisses. Date coupons. Chore coupons. The list goes on on what you can put on those things. Canva had templates you can use and the library lets you print for like 10 cents a page or less if not free.
5. Experiences/Dates
GO TO A MUSEUM. That’s it, that’s the tweet. Most museums are free and they are really cute dates. Make some sandwiches, bring some drinks, and have a picnic afterwards. The date can be the picnic. Just plan what you guys are gonna eat and incorporate the ingredients into your grocery budget for that week.
To up the ante, have an afternoon date to the museum and/or picnic then have a movie night at home. The snacks can be part of your grocery budget. Look up cute finger food recipes, get their favorite movie you both can watch on and have a cute end to the night.
Overall it doesn’t have to be expensive to enjoy Valentine’s Day. Just remember to let them know you love em.
xoxo
